Terms of Service

These terms explain your subscription, your responsibilities and the limits of our AI receptionist service. Read them before signing up, then try the browser demo to hear how the receptionist handles a plumbing call.

Who provides the service

We provide Plumbing Answering AI through TypeScience, trading as Plumbing Answering AI. These terms cover your use of our website, browser demo and subscription service. In these terms, “you” means the business using the service, and “we” means the operator named here.

Plumbing Answering AI is an AI receptionist for plumbing companies. You buy and manage the service online, with an onboarding chat to explain your business and its call handling rules. These terms include the data processing terms below for information we handle on your business's behalf.

What your receptionist does

Your receptionist answers as your business once your calls forward to it. You choose whether to forward all calls or only calls that arrive after hours, while your line is busy or when you do not answer. It uses the business information and instructions you provide during onboarding and through settings.

The service takes messages, asks plumbing intake questions, flags urgency and sends call alerts by email and app push notification. Alerts include a summary, urgency tag, transcript and recording, and you receive a daily digest email. You can review calls, usage and settings in the dashboard.

Your receptionist can book into Google Calendar or collect details for your callback. Urgent calls can go to the on-call person by warm transfer or a page, following the order you set. Website chat and consent-based lead follow-up calls are add-ons.

Trial, payment and monthly renewal

The free trial lasts 14 days and is capped at 100 minutes. A payment card is required before call forwarding goes live. The trial converts to a paid subscription only with a card on file, and we send a reminder email two days before conversion.

The subscription costs $249 per month and includes 500 AI minutes. Additional minutes cost $0.20 per minute and are billed monthly. You can review usage in your dashboard so that your business can track its use of the service.

Your subscription renews monthly until you cancel online. Billing is handled by our payment processor; we do not store full card numbers.

Cancellation and a lapsed plan

You can cancel your subscription online in one click. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid month. The service is month to month, so you can make that decision through your account without a sales call.

If your plan lapses, calls go to your backup number or voicemail. You are responsible for keeping a backup way for callers and urgent contacts to reach your business. Keep that route in mind when choosing your forwarding settings and reviewing whether the service is active.

Your business information and instructions

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you give the AI. This includes your services, work you do not perform, service area, hours, price policy and urgent-call instructions. The onboarding chat and the website content you point us to supply the information your receptionist uses.

You are also responsible for your greeting and business policies. Your receptionist states after-hours or emergency fees only as your shop has set them. Keep those instructions current when your fees, availability or service area change, and review whether the instructions reflect how you want calls handled.

You can change settings by telling the AI in plain words. Review your on-call contacts and the order in which urgent calls should reach them. Those settings guide the handoff; your business remains responsible for deciding how to respond to a caller and whether to accept a job.

Virtual-assistant and recording notices

Your receptionist announces at the start of each call that it is a virtual assistant and that the call is recorded. Those notices cannot be switched off. Your responsibility for the greeting does not include an option to remove these disclosures.

Calls are recorded and transcribed, with summaries available for your review. The browser demo also records and transcribes demo calls and chats to show the result. Consider what information you share while testing the demo, just as you consider the information collected on your business calls.

Follow-up calls and consent records

The lead follow-up add-on calls people who submitted your web form and ticked a consent box naming your business. You are responsible for the consent records for these follow-up calls. The feature is for responding to those inquiries, and we do not offer cold calls, list dialing or calls to purchased leads.

Follow-up calls happen within about a minute of the form submission, within the calling window of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the person's local time. The service makes one attempt plus one retry. Opt-outs are honored at once. Your business must keep its use of this feature within that consent-based purpose.

Acceptable use

You may not use the service for illegal activity, cold calling, robocalling, impersonation or harassment. These restrictions apply to how you use the receptionist and its add-ons. We may suspend the service for abuse.

Healthcare use involving protected health information is not permitted. Plumbing Answering AI is offered for plumbing companies, and you must not use the service to handle medical, dental or therapy practice calls. The website and service are not for children under 13.

Urgent calls and safety limits

Plumbing Answering AI is not an emergency service or a replacement for 911. For gas smells, carbon monoxide alarms, sparks or burning smells, or flooding near electricity, the AI instructs the caller to get everyone out and call 911 or the utility from outside. For a fire, it says: "Get everyone out first, then call 911 from outside." For a medical emergency or anyone in danger, it says to hang up and call 911 right now. The AI then alerts your business.

Shut-off guidance is limited to doing so only if it is safe. The receptionist does not provide repair instructions. Your urgent-call settings tell it who to contact within your business, while safety scripts direct callers toward emergency help when the situation requires it.

AI mistakes and your review

The AI can make mistakes, so you are responsible for reviewing call summaries and keeping a backup way to be reached. Check the available transcript and recording when you need to understand a call in more detail. Review is especially relevant when a caller reports an urgent problem or asks about your shop's policies.

Your receptionist's urgency tag and summary help organize the information collected during a call. They do not replace your business's judgment about the work, the caller's situation or your response. Use the call records and your own follow-up to make those decisions.

Data processing on your behalf

For caller data, your business decides what is collected and why, and we process it on your behalf. The information processed includes caller numbers, call audio, recordings, transcripts and summaries. Your instructions about intake questions and business policies guide what the receptionist asks and records for your business.

Calls, website and demo chats, recordings, transcripts and summaries of trial and customer accounts may be reviewed by authorized staff for quality, support and abuse prevention. Access is limited to those purposes.

We also collect account details, including your name, business, email and phone number, along with onboarding answers and website content you direct us to use. Our website uses privacy-friendly analytics and Google Analytics, which uses cookies. The privacy policy explains our handling of personal information.

We use service providers for hosting and storage, telephone service, AI voice and text models, payment processing, email delivery and analytics. By default, our API data is excluded from model training by the AI model provider. We do not sell personal information or use callers' data for our own marketing.

Retention and privacy requests

Recordings are kept for the period your business chooses, either 30 or 90 days, and then deleted. Transcripts and summaries are kept while your account is open. They are deleted within 30 days after the account closes or on request.

You and your callers can email privacy@plumbingansweringai.com about access, correction, deletion or opting out. Callers may also contact your business about their information. Because your business decides what caller information is collected and why, those requests may involve the information you instructed the receptionist to collect.

Service terms and liability limit

The service is provided as is. Our liability is capped at the fees you paid in the prior 12 months. This limit is part of these subscription terms alongside your responsibility to review summaries, maintain accurate instructions and keep a backup contact route.

The governing law for these terms is California. We notify you of changes to the terms by email. The date at the top identifies when this version was last updated.
